Lara Dutta was supposed to be a part of the much talked about Bachchan family’s tour called Unforgettable. One will be able to see stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Ritesh Deshmukh in the show. But Lara opted out at the last minute due to her leg injury. She is really upset that she can not be a part of the tour. Akshay Kumar on the other hand was supposed to be a part of the earlier but also stepped out the last minute. But the news now is that Akshay Kumar is very much a part of the show. Due to his date problems Akshay will not be the part of the show in all the cities. Abhishek Bachchan calls his father the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Pa and shares a very friendly relationship with him. Abhishek Bachchan is busy these days shooting in Rajsthan for his film Dilli 6 with Sonam Kapoor of Sawariya fame and daughter of Anil Kapoor. Dilli 6 is directed by Rakesh Mehra who was brilliant with Rang De Basanti and the hindi song of the title track was a super duper hit, lets hope that Dilli 6 also has good songs. During the shooting Abhishek Bachchan realized that he has an entire day off from shooting. To make the best out of it he took the first fight to Mumbai to surprise his father Amitabh Bachchan where he was shooting for Shoojit Sarkar’s Shobite. None at the shoot had a clue that Abhishek Bachchan is going to land up there anytime. Abhishek did not even inform his father Amitabh. Amitabh Bachchan was shocked to his son on the sets when he least expected him to be there. But he was very happy and spend lot of his time with Abhishek in his and van both also had lunch together.

Our top Bollywood stars are amongst the highest taxpayers. Bollywood is certainly going the corporate way. Multi-film deals, stars and their contracts with film studios, multiplexes getting in box office figures – corporate Bollywood have finally arrived. Our top Bollywood stars are amongst the highest taxpayers. 2007 surely seems to belong to Akshay Kumar as he has been reported as the highest Bollywood tax payer of the year. The actor has paid a whopping Rs. 26 crores ($6.5million) this year in taxes as he has signed a couple of big budget projects. The estimate of the tax figure paid by the top seven stars is expected to touch the Rs 100 crore-mark, which indeed will give a boost to the Income Tax Department. Last year, Amitabh Bachchan paid a whopping Rs 15.59 crore in taxes. This was followed by Hrithik Roshan who paid Rs.15.10 crore. Shah Rukh Khan shelled out Rs 14 crore in taxes.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom did not prove to be a great hit, but many people have liked it. I know I defiantly loved the movie, all the starts did a fantastic job, especially Abhishek Bachchan, and his performance was very good. Although Amitabh Bachchan had no major role in the film, he looked good as ever.

The struggle with the British

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

The British have been used as a symbol of tyranny and torture in many Hollywood films. I once got a chance to see a film named “Mard” in which Amitabh Bachchan played the role of a pony driver who was actually the lost son of a great king of a territory annexed by the British. The British officers are portrayed as the villains in this film and they always tortured Indians and made them work without proper food and even water was not given to the workers. The hero does a commendable work of fighting the tyrants and securing back the freedom to his people and the family.
